BYE BYE HAVANA

havana cuba documentary seyfert film

So far, nothing has changed. For all Havana's crumbling structures and piles of rubble, its disintegrating roads and toxin-belching jalopies, its plethora of armed policemen and sun-bleached billboards espousing their pat, revolutionary slogans, it attracts 3 million pink-skinned, camera-toting, snack-munching mojito-swilling tourists each year.

Cuba stands pummeled by an unworkable socialism and a voracious consumer appetite. What began over 50 years ago seems spent, "patriotism or death" are simply not enough.

The Waorani

waorani.jpg With a reputation of being the fiercest warriors in the Amazon, the Waorani have never been conquered or colonized. But since Oil Companies have entered their territory, they have made "deals", oil for a pack of noodles and two soccer balls, deals in exchange for nothing. The Waorani will continue to struggle for their survival, but in order to preserve their homeland and culture they have, paradoxically, adopted modern ways. watch documentary...

Weltreise ohne Wiederkehr

Rami Rosenbaum writes:

To finish a rough day, the only food in town, the same as in all small places in Laos, was a simple but expensive noodle soup. I guess we'll write about the terribly expensive Lao food in the future, highlighting that Thailand was way cheaper. Ah, and their famous green papaya salad, without papaya.
